There were a lot of local, state and federal police there. It was a nice presentation and el Presidente Rodolfo Valdez Gutierrez and his lovely wife Laura were there. Laura is the President of DIF in Mexicali and funds have been allocated for vaccinations and other perks for the kids here and from what I'm told, she's working with DIF here and some Rotary members to raise funds to help out the poor. Presidente Valdez Gutierrez said they are determined to provide enough security in San Felipe so it remains a safe place to come to and remember this number "066" ... he assures us they will respond within five minutes. Our esteemed Mayor, Hazael Sierra, was also present and he is pictured on the left. Fleet of trucks; Laura Ramirez, wife of el Presidente is very pretty and charming. I pray I have her last name correct. Try googling it. In Mexico, women rarely use their husband's name. They most always keep their own names but add the husband's name to the end for legal purposes. Hence, they use their maiden names for life. I kind of appreciate that as I also use my maiden name.

It was quite a presence and without saying it, made the statement that we have the Navy, we have the Army, we have Federal Police; we have the equivalent of the Highway Patrol; we have 35 preventative police and/or municipal police. Of course most everyone knows there's only one road out and an Army barracks at the crossroads so we all feel very safe here and I for one, appreciate the built in "gated community" the powers that be have made for us, here in beautiful down town San Felipe. Whether or not it was done accidentally or intentionally doesn't really matter because we know San Felipe is The Best Little Town in the Baja.
