Taking the Bus to San Felipe
San Diego has trolley service down to the Tijuana border ($2.50) and you can get a cab to the Tijuana bus station for under $10. There are buses to Mexicali with connections to San Felipe through ABC (Autobuses de la Baja California).

If you want to travel via Calexico and cross the border at Mexicali, the Greyhound station is across the street from the Mexicali/Calexico border and many people take that from San Diego. Greyhound buses run several times per day from San Diego to Calexico (travel time around 4 hours, web fare around $20 one way), and from Los Angeles to Calexico (6 hours, $25 online) The new ABC bus station in Mexicali is located close to the border – take a taxi. The San Felipe Bus Station
Located on Airport Road (Mar Caribe South), near the 7/11, Pemex gasoline station and the famous Sebastiani sculpture. They close after the last bus from Mexicali arrives (10:30 p.m.) and open again around 5:30 a.m. They don’t provide information or service by phone.

Notice: For reasons beyond our comprehension only the buses belonging to the San Felipe fleet are outdated models, but kept in good mechanical conditions. You are safe while making your trip.
The Mexicali – San Felipe route is now covered by a brand new bus fleet from ABC
Buses to San Felipe from Tijuana via Mexicali:

Open 7 days a week, 6 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Destinations: Tijuana, Ensenada, San Quintin, Tecate, Mexicali, San Felipe and Puerto Peñasco.
Frequency: Buses run between Tijuana and Mexicali every hour, Mexicali to San Felipe 5 trips/day. The trip between Tijuana and Mexicali costs around $25, and Mexicali to San Felipe costs around $20 usd. A taxi to your San Felipe condo or hotel will likely cost $10-20.
NEW! Buses between San Felipe and Ensenada are running again from May 2017:
The reestablished route has started with runs on Friday Saturday and Sunday but will eventually become a daily one. Cost of the ticket is $440 MXN This recovered route runs from Tijuana going through Ensenada via Ojos Negros to arrive to San Felipe.
Departures: 8 am
When this service was no longer running – a further isolation of San Felipe added significant additional burdens to those people living south of Punta Estrella in Ensenada County. To travel between San Felipe and Ensenada by bus, you used have to to travel via Mexicali and Tijuana – approximately a 6 to 7 hour trip.
Travel by bus to San Felipe has become safer in recent times due to the upgraded highway connecting the port to Mexicali city.
