Can you help us help animals in San Felipe? VIVA desperately needs to expand their foster network. There are many stories of desperation in San Felipe for animals. Dogs thrown in the trash. Pregnant dogs hovering under trailers trying to find a safe place to give birth. Dogs left in the desert to starve… But, more significantly, there are many stories of hope and love. Opening up your home for a night can help save an animal’s life. Being a foster is an incredibly rewarding experience for you and the animal and is a vital process in adoption. It would be a great gift to the animal to experience a domestic setting to prepare it for its forever home. If you are interested in becoming a foster, please contact Barbara at 686-193-2167 or Linda at 686-215-6121.
Donations of dog and cat food are urgently needed to continue to feed our indigent animal population. The holiday season is approaching and VIVA reminds the community to add our furry friends to your gift giving list. If you could drop off a bag of food to our Segunda, our hungry and hopeful street animals will be forever grateful. Fun gift items are sold every Saturday at the VIVA table at the EDR Swap meet. Pick up a cute gift. All proceeds go toward helping our street animals.
The Hoedown was an amazing success! On Nov 10th, VIVA had their first fundraiser of the year. The community had another country good time celebrating an old fashioned Hoedown at Margarita’s Ranch in Las Minitas. 2AM provided the country music. A delicious barbeque with all the fixins’ was served to an eager crowd. A little shopping fun was also included with a silent auction of donated items from our crafters and animal lovers. VIVA greatly thanks all participants and volunteers that made this event such fun. VIVA is excited to offer more medical help, spay and neuter clinics and adoption events this coming year.

The awareness toward the plight of our street animals is growing and the support and compassion by the local Mexican community has an astounding impact on the improvements to the condition of our street animals. Local San Felipe citizens like Kuchi Sanchez, TeTe Quintero and Alex Herrara highlight the beauty of local contributors to animal advocacy efforts and are represented in a new series called “Amazing Citizens” featured on their website. VIVA with the help of the community continues to grow awareness through education and example. Please help VIVA and the street animals of our town. Adopt. Donate. Volunteer.
VIVA embarks on another exciting year of events and programs to help San Felipe’s indigent and vulnerable animals. Spaying and neutering, medical care assistance and adoption events are some of the ways VIVA helps minimize animal suffering in our small town. At an Open Meeting scheduled for Wednesday, October 24th at 1pm will be held at the El Cortez Hotel and Restaurant, where VIVA will be sharing last year’s results, this year’s goals and encouraging volunteer support. The community outreach that VIVA experiences is awesome and they hope for more of the same this coming year.
A Hoedown on November 10th from 1-4pm kickoffs their fundraising season. Live country music by 2AM and a pork barbeque with all the fixin’s makes this Hoedown a “must do” for the community. A silent auction with over 100 items will be up for bid. Tickets are on sale for $12 or 150MXN at The Swap Meet, the Segunda and One of a Kind.
